Walker's got a plan. It might get shot down by the Feds.

Personally, I am against drug laws and welfare. Get rid of them both.

We pretty much have been a welfare state all my years. However only certain kinds of welfare gets the "welfare" tag.
I don't have a problem with the gov't helping out with the scourge of addiction. Put to single out the able bodied folks with no dependents is just a lazy, cynical, punitive political action. It is basically a "stick-it-to-em" Republican stunt with no net benefit to society.

I agree that drug laws are retarded.

When I was told to pee in a bottle to prove the company wasn't hiring a crazed drug addict, I considered whether taking the job was worth the invasion of my privacy, and I violated my principles and took the job. So I was all set to say people should suck it up and pee in the bottle if they want the government payments.

But then I got to the word "government" and realized that if the government tried to pull what the company did, it would be an unreasonable search and seizure and therefore unconstitutional. Never mind that the Fourth Amendment is routinely ignored every day (taken a flight lately?), I come down on the side of the Welfarians on this one.

Isn't welfare unconstitutional?

Those are the easy ones. What about the 30% the gov't pays some of us to cover our mortage interest ? What did we do to earn that ?

I don't think getting to keep your own money would qualify as welfare.
