Al The Unfunny Comedian would still be in office if he had been elected in Wisconsin instead of Minnesota, where the governor (currently Democrat) appoints his successor, especially if Wisconsin played by the same rules. But actually Governor Walker does not have the power to replace a senator who resigns or dies – we have this novel idea that a special election should be held to make that decision - but given recent elections it's not a cinch we would replace him with another Dem.
It was easy for Senator Tammy to call for ATUC to resign, since the seat stays in the party. If Al represented Wisconsin, she'd still be defending him.

You may have something. But I think a stronger theory would be that the Dems do not want to look like hypocrits when they call for the censure of the UNREPENTENT rapist soon to be a senator. Plus we know that the power buzz political leaders get far outweighs embarassments. I don't think Franken gives a shit what the his fellow Dems want, I he didn't want to resign he wouldn't.

The Dems already look like hypocrites. After all, they kept Ted Kennedy in the Senate for decades after he committed (at least) manslaughter, put Bill Clinton in the White House twice, and are still having a hissy fit over their failure to put him back (albeit in a different wing).
Assuming Moore wins, how are the voters of Alabama different from the voters of Massachusetts?

I can't disagree the Dems and Repubs are hypocrites. But I really fail to see what Clinton and Kennedy have to do with any of this. Might as well add FDR and Jefferson.
I think Moore and Franken should be treated exactly the same.

One might suggest that raping slaves would set the bar. But these people are gone. Which brings me to a point I forgot to make. And that is the social mores have changed over the years. What the Trump, Franken, Moore did would have been considered "good ol boy" stuff just a few years ago.b.w. richardson wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 11:13 pmReally? Those guys set the bar for the treatment of women. All of this is just their chickens coming home to roost.
